Construction is set to take place this summer along Bullard Avenue following Surprise City Council’s approval of funding at the most recent council meeting.
The project is estimated to cost about $3.3 million and is at the bidding stage. The city will contribute $343,000 and the rest will come from federal awards.
This construction will restore Bullard Avenue to two vehicle lanes in each direction along Greenway-Peoria. These lanes will also include extra safety features for bikers and pedestrians such as new traffic signals on the Acoma and Sweetwater intersections, bike lanes and cycle tracks, and a raised median. The project will also involve landscaping.
Bullard Avenue will maintain the 35 mile-per-hour speed limit.
